This paper addresses crowdsourcing, an under-researched type of open innovation that is often enabled by the web. The purpose of this paper is to categorize the types of crowdsourcing that would be suitable for firms in South Korea. There are four types of crowdsourcing, which are contests, collaborative communities, complementors and labor markets. It is worth that checking the types of crowdsourcing which categorized by the foreign companies based on the notion(idea) that adapting whether there is a need to adapt common things in South Korea’s company. To take full advantage of crowd-powered innovation, it needs to understand what kinds of problems benefit from open innovation and why. This paper examined the types of crowdsourcing through a multiple case study in South Korea’s companies and what strategies would be suitable for them.
