Type approval test laboratories and areas of operation
This presentation provides detailed information on the published scopes of operation of a
number of type approval test laboratories, their general structure and modes of operation. It shows
how they advertise their competencies and structure their websites for easy assimilation of their
areas of activity. Examples of actual type approval test laboratories currently in operation are used
and references provided to their published material. This presentation will be of interest to those
bodies contemplating establishment of type approval test laboratories and preparing their planned
activities on a priority basis. It also points to the kinds of technology groupings requiring test
services and the equipment and sub-laboratory structures that are useful in a step by step
construction of testing services.
