Torsten Soltmann’s current role is Head of Technical Sales at Siemens Mobile in
Moscow. He has been living and working in Russia since 1995.

TORSTEN SOLTMANN: BIOGRAPHY
Torsten Soltmann was born and educated in the former GDR before earning a military diploma in
high frequency technologies. After serving in the East German and post-unification German air
forces, he joined Siemens in 1993 as a planning engineer with responsibility for long distance
transmission networks. He managed a number of projects including radio and optical
transmission lines for TSL (Trans Siberian Line) – the world’s longest radio transmission line. In
1998 he took responsibility for after sales service for key Siemens transmission projects in the
CIS region, including Y2K planning. In 2002 he joined Siemens’ mobile business as a project
manager for joint UMTS trials conducted with NEC in Moscow and St Petersburg. He is currently
head of Technical Sales for Siemens Mobile in Moscow.
