LEE 232 Sp 13 NAME: S2 ECE Literacy Assessment – Emergent Reader Total Possible Score: 20 points Your Score: 14 FEEDBACK: Alphabetic Principle - Although in preschool, this child shows superior knowledge and should have had chance to try words on San Diego to assess whether or not he is beginning to read and move beyond emergent reader stage. Reading – Be sure to ask the child to retell story in his own words prior to asking questions. Writing – Need to include an analysis of writing and spelling skills in the report. Recommendations - I do not see a connection between dragon book and his areas of interest. Because of the family’s technology interests, you might suggest that he write stories on the computer and use various applications for illustrating his stories. I agree that this child is above average in emergent literacy and his writing shows good understanding of the speech/print connection.
