If you can bring a translator, it
is very helpful for the number
of families that are in need.
Edison students will be using technology more this
year than ever to work on a math program called
STMath. It is a web based, math skill development
program in which students solve problems posed
through trial, refinement and solution seeking using
JiJi the penguin as the character. Each class will
have access to laptops to use to complete the
program.
Edison News and Notes
Food Items
Edison is facing changes to the types of food items that we can serve students due to
new regulations on health and wellness. This impacts our fundraising programs for
things like Student Store and Otter Pop sales. Our PTO is working to find another fun
thing to sell for our student fundraising.
With this policy change we ask that parents do not bring treats to class for birthdays.
There are a number of students with food allergies and when these come in
unannounced or unplanned we have no way to check with the parents of students to
see if the items are ok for their student to have. Teachers are forced to deny a student
the treat while everyone else gets to have one and that is very hard on the student that
has to miss out.
Tardies
We are having a real problem with tardies already this year. For students that go over
10 tardies, they will start to earn detention during their morning or lunch recess. Most
students are a few minutes late, but some students are late more than they are on time.
We have been charged to improve our attendance rate for families with tardy problems.
For students that repeatedly miss their detentions- they will attend our In School
Suspension (ACE) at Lehi.
Please make an effort to be here on time each day. If you struggle with this, set your
alarm a little earlier, pick out your clothes the night before and get packed for school
before you go to sleep. Set a bed time and stick to it on Sunday through Thurdsay
nights. These tips will help you get a few more minutes which can make all the
difference.
We will host Attendnace Bingo after school on Friday, September 12 th. Students must
have good attendance to attend. No more than 3 unexcused absencces and no more
than 5 tardies. Parents can join them to help them play. We will likely be done before
3:00 that afternoon. Students must have a way home to stay for the event.
