Cabrillo Extension Class: Abstracting Nature’s Patterns M. Niven In this two day workshop we will develop abstract works inspired by patterns found in nature. Please come to the first day of the workshop with source material such as photographs, feathers, shells, leaves, rocks. Great patterns exist in tree bark, rock formations, corral formations, bird wings, and aerial photography to name a few. Any natural pattern that you find beautiful and inspiring is perfect. Please also bring your own materials (see materials list below). Over the course of this two day workshop we will build a visual structure by layering, combining or juxtaposing these patterns leading us to finished works of rich beauty and personal meaning. Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns. nivenart@gmail.com Materials: Water media paper, such as 140lb. watercolor paper or Rives BFK printmaking paper. 2-4 sheets or a block or pad.
