Mr. Jason Dilly: “I would first like to recommend you put up a sign to advertise what you are doing here. I am here
because I am angry about the gamers in the cafeteria, fireside lounge. They are loud and they take up all of the tables.
What can you do about this problem?” Mr. Dilly spoke with Joseph Watkins prior to this meeting. Joseph has been doing
the footwork in order to resolve this issue. Bobby will sponsor this item for having this placed on the agenda for next week.
Mr. Jimmy Robinson: “I want to see a crosswalk put from the music building to the physical education building. The only

This item is up for discussion / possible action regarding the approval of $26,000.00 from the ASCC Savings
Account to purchase 31 Day Metro Passes. After discussing this proposal with the Budget Committee, they feel this
is the best direction and choice for the students at Cabrillo College. The Bus Pass program will not return and this is
the option that allows for students to receive a discounted price for daily use of the pass. The funds will be earned
back from the purchases. This will last for the 2012-2013 school year.
Bianca moves to approve $26,000.00 from the ASCC Account for the purchase of 31-Day Metro Passes, Ivan

D. Constantino
15 Minutes
This item is up for discussion / possible action regarding the approval of the Student Senate Budgets for the
2012-2013 school year. This includes the 71 Operating Fund, 72 Student Rep. Fee, and 73 Student Center Fee.
Treasurer, Darwin Constantino chose to go over each account individually. He passed out a copy of the Proposed
Budget for year 2012-2013 from the three (3) accounts 71, 72 and 73. There are two events that will pull from the 72
account that still need approval: CCLC and March-in-March. Vice President, Laura Hunerberg made the point that it
is bad practice to overshoot the budget with the idea that the needed money will come from overflow.

made. The Budget Committee met and voted unanimously for the amendments. Darwin moves to approve the
71 Operations Budget, Devin seconds the motion. 12 yeas, 1 abstain

Bookstore Items
Info. / Discuss.
C. Achen
10 Minutes
This item is up for discussion regarding purchasing some remaining items that the bookstore would like to sell us.
The bookstore has donated many items to the Student Senate for our raffles and contests. The bookstore would like
to offer the senate to purchase dated items at a discounted rate. The discussion from the members is that there ought
to be a plan for the use of the goods before buying them. That the senate still holds donated items that have no use,
there isn’t enough storage space and that the money used for this could be better spent.
This item will not be returning as an Action Item in next week’s meeting.

C. Achen
30 Minutes
This item is up for discussion / possible action regarding continuing the creation of our meeting norms. Committees
broke into groups to discuss the lists that were created in the previous meeting, August 23, 2012. Conclusion: Part 3
of Meeting Norms will be the following Student Senate Meeting, September 6, 2012.
Committee Reports
3 minutes ea.
Bookstore Committee: The most important topic is that there is a possible outsourcing coming. That is bad for the
Student Senate. A large sum of money is contributed from the bookstore. Cabrillo students will be
unemployed. This
is something to be aware of, especially since if outsourcing becomes imperative and
suppliers won't include funds for the Senate in their quote, the school may let that happen.

Sesario Escoto:
Thank you for passing item B. The leadership class is has four (4) seats available. All College Day was a success
everyone did a great job. The faculty was impressed to see you so formally as a group they should take seriously.
SAC Event: this is not an event to take lightly. There is a lot of work to make this a success for everyone. It is
reiterated that those that did not vote for this event you still must find a way to participate since as a senate we are all
a team and need to support each other. Though the Food Pantry is only open on Fridays there will be meals already
together and packaged for students as needed throughout the week. I wish all of you a great semester.
Flor Chacòn
Excited about working with such a great group of students and what will come from the hard work this semester.
Welcome week is approaching and all of us need to stay on top of tasks and responsibilities. Devin is the chair for the
Inter-Club Council and Ivan is Inter-Club Council Treasurer. I will be hosting a workshop for treasurers and for the
advisors of clubs. The leadership conference is approaching as well. Try to figure out how you would like to help in
assisting Aimee with this big project.

Rory needs a mentor. Right now the mentors in place are overseeing two students apiece. Cedar volunteered to
mentor Rory. We ought to start looking at those who are ready to move into that position. Senators who
understand the goings on of the senate well enough, even if they are new, may be up for consideration as mentors.
