Natasha Wells: been involved with leadership and the general goings on of her school since middle school. Currently volunteer coordinator
(and possible future president) of AGS. Enrolled in 12 units but only at school for one class so she will have time to be involved, and spends
quite a fair amount of time on campus. Gets along well with others and can interact in a positive manner with constituents, likes to keep
things in order and on track. Wants to be on the legislative committee and others. 12 yeas unanimous
Tabatha Mahoney: interested in senate during the senate retreat, rekindled the passion of politics and debating which is an asset she will
bring to the senate. The ICC representative for Pre-Med and on the board of AGS. Believes this is such an important semester to be
involved. Has a lot of contact with very diverse groups who she would inform of the goings on. 12 yeas unanimous

Survey Assessment
Info. / Discuss.
B. Buckter
10 Minutes
This item is up for discussion regarding an assessment of a survey recently conducted.
Conducted a survey of students. Results included Watsonville staff wanting their parking lot open after five, a desire to see more
physical club activities, larger borrow a book program, concern about repeatability of classes, improvements of water fountains,
better recycling, and availability of all resources at every campus. One person was completely satisfied with everything,
suggested only that we better use the facilities we have. Committee Reports
3 minutes ea.
a. Cafeteria remodel: spoke with Joe Neugent, the contract is ready but the committee needs to sit down and really decide what they
want, costs, etc.
b. CPP: accreditation getting reappraised next year. Survey results were 2:1 wanting to move the fall and spring semesters closer
together. Will need an alternate for the October 3 meeting. c. Voter Reg: will be meeting after this meeting
d. SLO: we will be assed in one year. Departments slightly behind in their goals. Meeting every third month on Thursday at 9am. As
of that day, not all student learning outcomes had been submitted, but based on the website only a few need to get their act
together. Need an alternate for this committee.
e. Faculty senate: a few problems surrounding shortening the winter break in the 2013-14 year including programs like nursing and
world languages, but offers the opportunity for full labs during the summer. Must declare a major to receive financial aid.

Joseph is glad to see the diversity and involvement of the senate. Flor agrees but it is important to be aware of other's
perspectives and diversity. All of us here may feel like we get along with each other, but not everyone here does and
that is important to note. Nadine spoke up saying that she does not feel included, that the senate is a clique with sub
cliques. Each of us brings very diverse perspectives and it is important to realize and take these into account. Laura said
that sometimes things you say in an offhand manner or as a joke can be taken in a very different light, or as personally
offensive by someone else. If you see this, and want to be a good leader, it is your job to speak up and call each other
out on things that make others feel uncomfortable or attacked. If you need support speaking up, we're all here for each
other and that's what it comes down to - we need to be here for each other as a group and make sure everyone feels
included and safe. Flor stated that this wasn't a huge issue, we just need to learn how to "share a house together" and if
someone calls you out for not abiding by the office guidelines, don’t get annoyed, unless you think they are not
working and should be changed. Then we can change them. Realize that we are all strongly opinionated and need to
respect each other’s ideas and personalities - but not to the point that we stifle. Only speak to the Voice in writing, say
they may only quite you with your permission, if they say they are going to report something push them to include the
good things of that we do as well. A. Assigning and Updates of Mentors
