NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Cabrillo College Student Senate will hold a meeting on Thursday October 4th, 2012. The meeting time and
location information is noted on the agenda. The purpose of this meeting is to be the direct representation of Cabrillo College’s Student Body. We
will see to it that the student’s best interests are being served and that the students are given the opportunity to be heard. If you have any questions,

A. Town Hall Meeting Event

This item is up for discussion / possible action regarding the Student Senate sponsoring a Town Hall meeting event
to be held
in October concerning the November Election.
Mr. Trevor Nakagawa spoke to the senate seeking support in holding a town meeting October 30th, which is also the last to register to
vote. The purpose is to have an opportunity to discuss the items on the ballot. I hope to enthuse registered voters to actually go out and
vote. The Secretary of State will attend this meeting. This is nonpartisan event; this is about the issues as a whole. It would be held on
Cabrillo’s campus in room 450 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Speakers for this event include League of Women Voters, Dan Rothwell
and Representatives from Common Cause. Students are very encouraged to speak. A publicity committee could work with Cedar to

design flyers, announcements to classes and ask professors if they would offer extra credit for those that vote. If the PR committee
would help with posters and possibly contact the Santa Cruz Sentinel and other public offices, that would wonderful.
Abby offered to get the PR committee on board to assist.
Bianca offered the assistance of the Voter Registration committee and will mention this at the next Faculty Senate meeting.

Sadie Reynolds, a member of the teachers union and a sociology professor, passed out literature on propositions 30, 32 and 38.
There was discussion of the benefits and consequences of how each proposition functions should they pass or not and how they
help/hurt each other.

People have been tardy and absent. What is excusable and what is not, for missing the meetings.
Sharon was out ill: excused by the Eboard
Rory has a class after the ASCC meeting. He is unable to get back to Cabrillo campus from Watsonville meeting in time
for that class, so that is why he was not present. It was voted on by the board and by a 2/3 vote Rory is excused. Cedar
will talk to Rory about this and future meetings that may conflict with Rory’s class schedule.
Aimee was tardy. Voted unanimously that she is not excused.
