This item is up for discussion regarding the College-Wide Support Grants.
Treasurer Constantino made a presentation about the college wide support grants. 68 grant proposals from 43 departments ranging
from $280.00 to $21,000.00 totaling more than $170,000. The department had $30,000.00 to allocate; we did our best. Proposal limit
this year was $1,300.00 and all applications were scored on a 50-point rubric.
Time extended by two minutes.
Twenty-six (26) different departments partially or fully funded with the full $30,000.00. Approximately 8,000 students will be directly
effected by these grants, about 10,000 students will be indirectly affected though counseling, tutoring, DSPS, etc.

Town Hall Event Recap
Info. / Discuss.
A. González
5 Minutes
This item is up for discussion regarding the recently held Town Hall event.
Abby and Bianca spoke on behalf of the event. There was a full house to see the seven speakers. Thank you to everyone who helped
out, especially Bianca who really stepped up while Abby was in Los Angeles at the CCCSAA conference. It feels really good to see
the hard work pay off, when students are actively involved and engaged in their education of propositions and what they are voting for
instead of voting for the sake of voting. Bianca hopes this will be an annual event. While there was a lot of participation from the
senate, we could have done better. It is important to remember that we are all in this together and we ought to be asking how we can
offer our services. If the senate is going to put its name on something, we should provide the manpower and support.

CCCSAA Report
Info. / Discuss.
A. Cornett
20 Minutes
This item is up for discussion regarding reports from the senators who returned from the California Community College Student
Affairs Association’s (CCCSAA) Leadership Conference held this past weekend.
This past weekend ten (10) senators and two (2) advisors attended this conference. Saturday there were four workshop slots to which
all the senators attended different ones. There was a t-shirt swap, mingling and networking; definitely a very successful conference.
Flor and Sesario’s workshop focused on character and morals. Seeing the other colleges in action showed him how very much we
accomplish and how well we work together. This event was successful in that the group applied the networking, debating, listening,
and objective thinking skills that have been taught through the student senate. Enjoyed the round table of leadership as it engaged the
personal side of things with how to make yourself a strong leader before you can help others.

Discussion of Senate
5 Minutes
a.
Joseph has two concerns: regarding charlottes leaving every week, since we are all here that she should be
here every week. He doesn't like that there is discontinuity among the leaders. Second concern is about the
secretary position and I have an expectation that this is a job that needs to be upheld. I'm not happy with the
level of work that is being done to the point that I felt I need to say something.
b.
Possible to have someone else go to the meeting, like NOT the president? Flor will talk to them about why
they are suddenly attending. Sesario has been deciding to go to some meetings and not to others. Laura will
talk with Charlotte about possibly finding a replacement and another committee.
