This item is up for discussion / possible action regarding the approval of $15,000.00

Chair of the engineering department at Cabrillo College has requested that $15,000.00 be donated by the Student Senate in order to establish an endowment with a bank and to then fund a study-abroad-program. The money is to fund one years’ cost and earn interest to fund future trips for this department. Joanne P. spoke on behalf of the department stating “draining off interest accrued on fifteen-thousand dollars to fund future events and that means the fifteen-thousand is always in the bank earning funds. This also makes this the property of Cabrillo College.” The questions of why not give half of the amount now and the other half at the next fiscal year were presented. Aimee stated that the next senate may not approve the other half that is needed to make a total of fifteen-thousand dollars. *Bianca moves to extend time by five (5) minutes, 14 yeas 2 nays, Passed
