Less than 2% samples were processed as repeats because of poor quality control
performance.
No quality control problems brought to supervisors attention.
No NATA re-assessment during the review period.
Minimal stock outs. Stocks held on hand meet laboratory requirements.
Rating system: 1 = below expectations, 2 = meets expectations, 3 = exceeds expectations.
Development plan

Sample turnaround times need to improve. Olga to investigate the use of a flow injection sample
introduction system for the ICP-MS instruments to improve throughput.
The maintenance of NATA accreditation could not be properly assessed as no third party audit
was conducted. Olga to be nominated as a NATA signatory at the next reassessment.
Employee's comments:
FI sample introduction will make us competitive with respect to sample turnaround times for ICP-MS
analysis.
Request to attend the next RACI Analytical Chemistry conferences as part of professional development
and training.
Line manager’s comments:
Olga’s performance was satisfactory for the review period. If the conference program is deemed relevant I
would support Olga’s request to attend the RACI conference.
Senior management’s
comments:
Olga will require training for the proposed NATA signatory role, this should be kept in mind and included in
the 2002/2003 budget.
