OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY Simulab is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all employees, customers, visitors, contractors, and others in the workplace. Our goal is to maintain high standards of health and safety in the workplace. AIMS Simulab will endeavour to as far as is reasonably possible: provide and maintain safe systems of work; provide and maintain safe plant and equipment; maintain the workplace in a safe condition; make available suitable information for performing work tasks in a safe manner; provide training for all workers required to use safety systems; ensure that safe systems for handling, storage and transportation of plant and substances are available; and provide systems to maintain staff welfare. RESPONSIBILITIES Management will as far as is reasonably practicable meet all of the obligations of current occupational health and safety legislation. Managers, supervisors and employees will be assigned roles and responsibilities to ensure compliance. Section managers, and supervisors will be accountable for implementing Simulab safety policies within their area of responsibility. Under the company's operational plan, annual audits of an item's performance will be undertaken by managers and supervisors. Managers and supervisors shall ensure that: there is adequate provision of resources to meet health and safety commitments; training is provided for all tasks in the workplace; occupational health and safety policy is communicated to all workers; the workplace is maintained in a safe condition; and there is continuous monitoring and improvement in occupational health and safety training, promotion, and implementation of safety policies and procedures. Employees shall ensure that: they pose no danger to themselves or others in the workplace; they adopt all of the safety provisions as agreed by management and staff; and they report as soon as practicable any unsafe plant or equipment. CONSULTATION SimuLab is committed to the consultation process between management and employees. Management eagerly seeks the cooperation and input of all employees in fulfilling the organisations occupational health and safety commitments. DISPUTE RESOLUTION In the event of a dispute arising involving an occupational health and safety issue, the person involved should refer the issue to their immediate supervisor. If this action does not resolve the issue then the dispute will be referred to the next higher level of management. If the dispute is still not resolved, it should be referred to the Occupational Health And Safety Committee, who will consult with management until the dispute is either resolved internally, or referred to WorkCover. 02-002 OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY MANUAL Section 4 – OH&S Policy Version: 03 Page: 2 of 2 Issue Date: 2 October 2001 Authorised by: Marjorie Dickenson REVIEW OF POLICY Simulab will review this policy on a regular basis to account for new legislation and changes in organisation and methods.
