Institutional Research Data Analyst IR/5 Institutional Effectiveness JOB SUMMARY This position provides support for integrated data systems used by Institutional Research for reporting of institutional, system and third-party reports, surveys and business analytics. This position is also responsible for the collection, and analysis of institutional data for a variety of internal and external uses. MAJOR DUTIES Conduct data analysis and research support for internal and external institutional data requests using quantitative and statistical procedures. Designs internal and external reports for management using a variety of tools. Assists in design of business analytics for the institution. Assists with system administrative tasks, including writing scripts, for Institutional Research servers. Provides basic end user support for the institution’s business analytics systems. Provides user and programming support for a variety of data systems and reporting applications. Performs related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION Knowledge of current trends and solutions especially related to data scripting, data reporting, business analytics Knowledge of application development and management principles Knowledge of computers and job related software programs Knowledge of statistical and other methods of data analysis for the reporting of internal and external needs Skill in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports Skill in written and oral communication SUPERVISORY CONTROLS The Assistant Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness makes assignments by defining objectives, priorities, and deadlines. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for technical soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements. GUIDELINES Guidelines are available, but are not completely applicable to the work or have gaps in specificity. The employee uses judgment in interpreting and adapting guidelines. COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK The work includes various duties involving different and unrelated processes and methods. The work involves treating a variety of conventional problems, questions, or situations in conformance with established criteria. SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY None. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one year.
