College of the Redwoods Program Review Committee Executive Summary Adopted November 6, 2009 Mission Statement The College of the Redwoods’ Program Review Committee leads and facilitates authentic assessment as it relates to student success and planning at the institution for all subject and service areas. The committee reviews Annual and Comprehensive Program Reviews that provide the strong foundation upon which College of the Redwoods develops, identifies, states and documents quality improvement plans and goals including providing the direction of prioritization of funding, and support needs as organized under the strategic planning objectives. Objective: To provide an evaluative Executive Summary of this program’s review for authors, the Integrated Planning Committees, and the District. Summary and Recommendations: 1. Program strengths: Quality of staff lends strength to the program evidenced by revised, stronger program review; Collaboration with CalSOAP to receive scholarship funds. Also, collaboration with HSU for providing summer residential program activities. Summer Bridge program, for HS students between HS and College; Very successful program -21 year program; 100% of students in the class of 2009 who participated until high school graduation enrolled in college. 2. Program challenges/obstacles: CalSOAP Funding cuts will result in reduced staffing for Upward Bound; four out of six Upward Bound permanent staff are partially funded by CalSOAP and any loss affects program; Federal monies available, but is competitive Facilities (firing range) 3. Program Outcomes Assessment (PLOs/SLOs): Revised submission of PLO/SLOs significantly increased 9. Addition of Exit Surveys of participants who exit Upward Bound before high school graduation. 7.
