The committee was asked this year for a formal Faculty Code interpretation. The issue requiring an interpretation dealt with the methods and procedures for handling evaluation materials which are submitted by individuals not in the department of the person being evaluated. The committee prepared an interpretation, and forwarded it to the Senate for their approval. The committee was charged with reviewing the material prepared by the Ad Hoc Committee for the Study of Student Evaluation of Teaching. The committee has forwarded its recommendations to the Senate. The committee initiated a review of the annual evaluation document set distributed in the fall of each year by the Dean’s Office which discusses, explains, and details the procedures for individuals, colleagues, and head officers. The committee is interested in developing a more streamlined, cogent, and co-ordinated document. The committee expects this will completed by the beginning of next academic year (working through the summer if necessary).
