General Education Mission Statement
The General Education Program at SCSU is committed to the ideal of liberal
education that provides knowledge, skills and experience and promotes
critical thinking and ethical values for a lifetime of integrative learning in a
diverse and changing society.
The General Education Committee approves the mission as stated and will use
additional materials provided in earlier drafts as we pursue goals, objectives and
student learning outcomes.
As reflected in GEC Minutes of 12/12/2005, approved electronically by
membership on 12/20/2005 and forwarded to Faculty Senate.
Faculty Senate approved the mission statement at their meeting on 1/24/2006.
