Cameron University student participates in Washington Internships for Native Students

Cameron University student Clint Punley was selected to participate in the Washington Internships for

Native Students (WINS) program at American University in Washington, D.C., this past summer.

Punley is a senior computer information systems major at Cameron. He is a native of Apache and a member of the Wichita, Kiowa, Cheyenne and Otto tribes.

WINS provides American Indian students with the opportunity to intern in the nation’s capital and earn academic credit at no cost to them. The program is made possible by funding from federal agencies and other organizations. Sponsorship for the program includes tuition, room and board, transportation and a stipend.

WINS is open to junior and senior undergraduate and graduate level American Indian students with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Students are chosen based on their grade point average, an essay, resume, transcripts and their status as a tribal member.

While in Washington, Punley attended classes, worked 40 hours a week at an internship and participated in social and cultural activities.
