For Immediate Release – Lawton, OK, May 7, 2004 Cameron students hone teaching skills in schools Nearly two dozen Cameron University students are completing student teaching assignments as part of their preparation for careers as Oklahoma’s newest public school educators. Students are working alongside seasoned educators, specializing in a variety of subjects at schools in Duncan, Empire and Lawton. The assignments are part of CAMSTEP, the Cameron Secondary Teacher Education Program, which has been described over the years as one of the nation’s model teacher prep programs. This fully accredited program remains one of the most popular majors for both undergraduate and graduate students at CU and has produced hundreds of public and private school teachers over the past few years.
