Method Used to Handle Demand or Interval Reading Data
Q: How do you handle demand or interval reading data?
continue to read manually
Handled through manual meter reading, not drive-by
include AMR for demand in rural areas.
lager commercial customers are on MV90 and interval data is read via this method. Demand meters are read in the field and are reset remotely in most cases.
Mainly through remote interrogation via telephone modems and limited cellphone utilisation
Manually read demand meters, probe optical port for IRD or read through phone lines.
Most read manually or optically probed. Have 1900 drive by AMR demand meters.
None. Only residential energy usage accounts.

Method Used to Handle Missed Reads and Errors Resulting From
the Drive-By Readings
Q: How do you handle missed reads and errors resulting from the drive-by readings?
After 2 missed reads a field investigation order is system generated. If an error is detected by the billing audit, a field investigation can also be manually generated
check reads upon customer or bookkeeping request
Don't do drive by reads.
Estimate the sutomer or re-reads
Field check meters
Manually read meters (van driver) for the relatively few missed reads
Missed reads are picked up manually. Errors are investigated.
No errors/tw o attempts
Send serviceperson
The Drive-by readings are currently being used for prepaid pilot to determine meter tampering
Very low volume - Communicate No Reads to Vendor.
