Gonsalves-Domond Dean Rosenberg reviewed issues discussed at the May 21st Retreat: Suggestion to reduce the number of classrooms from 58 to 51 to accommodate nonacademic space needs. SSHS faculty rejected the suggestion and recommended that the classroom number must remain at 58 or be increased. Research indicates that the number of high school students in New Jersey is on a decline which further impacts any chance of an increased revenue stream from traditional college offerings. Certificate programs and innovative new programs need to be offered to reflect present and future revenue possibilities. Public Safety and their negative relationship with students was also brought up as a cause for the reduction in the number of students willing to live on campus. A science based survey was done in a Research Methods/Data Analysis class revealed that students are not only moving back home, but are advising other Ramapo students not to live on campus. This, plus the economy has left 100 beds empty and dramatically reduced revenue. Faculty Announcements Lysandra Perez-Strumolo announced that diversity will be included as a goal in the Strategic Plan. Mia Serban announced that the SSHS Curriculum survey has been distributed. Aaron Lorenz announced that the Assessment Committee reports are due June 1st. Jim Morley reminded everyone that a Phenomenology Conference will be held May 25-26th in the Pavilion. Shaziela Ishak advised that CAAFYE/mandatory advisement will be held for 3 rd semester students in October and Jr. mandatory advisement in spring semester.
