Crawley Dean’s Announcements S14 enrollment is down in all disciplines. Sam Rosenberg thinks higher faculty attendance at Immediate Decision and Transfer Registration Days might promote the majors. In an effort to reduce on-campus student drinking on Tuesday evenings, it has been suggested that more required courses be offered on Wednesday morning. It is recommended that courses begin at approximately 9AM. At issue is how this can be achieved without disrupting the academic meetings that are held each Wednesday morning and early afternoon. Courses could be offered, but would primarily be taught by adjuncts. SSHS Mission Statement The SSHS Curriculum Committee, comprised of Mia Serban, Sangha Padhy, Nick Salter, Paul Reck, Julie Good , Karl Johnson and Eileen Klein, developed and proposed an updated version of the SSHS Mission Statement. A lively discussion followed with many suggested revisions, deletions and additions. The committee will update and present at the next Unit Council. Michael Bitz, SSHS representative to Writing Across the Curriculum asked for examples of specific writing assignments from the faculty. Leah Warner, who will be on maternity leave S14, will provide grant assistance to SSHS. If you are seeking a grant, Leah will research what is available and assist in the grant application. Shaziela Ishak, TLTR representative, discussed Invivo (new software). Please let her know who needs training and a session will be provided. The deadline for software applications has been extended to December 6th.
