Department of Theatre Our goal as a department is to produce high quality shows and use the process to educate our students. Here you will find information about our home, the Strayer­Wood Theatre; our faculty and staff that contribute to the life of our program; our academic programs and other experiential opportunities; scholarships; and some interesting historical material. Department of Theatre Mission Statement The mission of the Department of Theatre is to provide university students with an experiential, liberal­arts education in theatre through coursework and productions which are diverse, creative, and participatory. The Department provides leadership in theatre education and creates an environment that acknowledges that theatre is about people and for people. Thus, the Department prepares majors to contribute to the discipline and to work in a process that embraces people. We create theatre and in this process, educate.
