outcomes in your courses with this
campus-wide celebration of the
Community Creed and this year’s EYE
on FYE contest theme. Submissions are
welcome through March 31, 2012
Students are invited to creatively
express themselves as they
contemplate the WCU Community
Creed Find out more about the Creed

discuss ideas about how to integrate
this project into your spring course, please feel free to contact Glenda. For example… students and
clubs and organizations can document service events, campus events, classroom projects, and more!
They may work in-solo or with a class group, or with a student organization ---- so many possibilities! See
the website for more details.
THE WCU POVERTY PROJECT ----- Please see the list of courses that will integrate these themes into
course work this spring --- For more information, visit the WCU Poverty Project website.
As we all prepare to finish the semester and take a holiday break, I suspect that you, like I, cannot
believe this semester is almost over! Where did those 15 weeks of life go!? Our newest members of the
WCU community are soon to become retuning students and will be joined by a small group of brandnew first-year and many more transfer students. As I contemplate the journey our students have
begun, I am reminded that they are still learning the ropes here and will continue to rely on all of us for
guidance and support. I hope you will have opportunities to stay in touch with your fall students and
give them an encouraging nod from time to time.
How very fortunate we are to have the opportunity to work with these young people who will shape
the world they inherit! I count my blessings and cherish the gift that is wrapped as a career in higher
education. I offer my deepest gratitude for your energy, expertise, and commitment to our first-year
students and wish you smooth sailing as you wrap up your fall semester.
May you have a wonderful and restful holiday break with your family and friends!
