Open Session
I was on vacation on March 26th (Spring Break!). Kathleen agreed to attend in my
place, and did go at 3:30, the standard time. However, unbeknownst to us, the
Open Session had been moved to a morning time, so that interviews for the new
Trustee could take place in the afternoon. My fault, though I wasn’t the only one.
Apparently, seven of the presidents missed for the same reason. Kathleen
stayed for two hours, but only heard candidate presentations. I told her there was
no point in reporting on them.
Those present in the morning said it was a brief session. Some concerns were
expressed by a few Board members that the new liberal arts degree areas of
emphasis (needed so that they’re in compliance with Title 5) will reduce our
degree totals. Some of this seems to be based on a misunderstanding, and we’re
working to get things clarified.
