Dorian Barnes Dorian Barnes has been a public educator for more than 10 years. During her career, she has taught students of all ages ranging from primary to higher education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Language and Literacy Education from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She is also a National Board Certified Teacher. Dorian is currently a 4th grade teacher at a local elementary school where she also serves as a PDS Site Coordinator for interns. She served as the 2012-2013 Teacher of the Year for her school and was a New Hanover County Schools Teacher of the Year finalist. She is also a UNI 101 instructor and Finance Advisor of Alpha Delta Pi sorority at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Mrs. Barnes’ educational interests include mentoring young adults, beginning teachers and interns, planning quality professional development, and teacher retention.
