The meeting was called to order at 4:10 pm.
Communications:
Professor Hill provided the committee with an Academic Foundations and Essential Studies
document from the last Board of Regents General Education Council meeting. It included a sample
framework for the explanation of a category. The Council has not discussed coordination with the
common course numbering efforts.

The next meeting will be Monday, 3/10 from 3:10-5.
Business Items:
The committee discussed the criteria statements for Group V: Literary and Artistic Studies, Group
IV: Expressive Arts, Group VI : Social Sciences, and Group X Indigenous and Global Perspectives.
The statements should have parallel structure and include a short description, criteria and learning
goals. Suggestions were made for improvement. The revised document will be sent to committee
members for consideration and continued discussion next week.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:20 p.m.
