WINTHROP UNIVERSITY NOTICE OF JOB VACANCY Re-advertised May 12, 2016 POSITION: GROUNDSKEEPER (FACILITIES MANAGEMENT) (Class Code KA10/Building/Grounds Specialist II) BAND: Band 02\Level 03 STARTING $21,600 minimum per year; qualifications and funding will determine actual salary SALARY: VACANCY: #201644 Minimum Training & Experience: Six months of experience in general grounds maintenance and valid driver’s license required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: General knowledge of the practices and procedures of general grounds maintenance. Ability to perform manual labor and work outdoors in all types of weather. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and operate all types of grounds maintenance equipment, including lawn mowers, weed eaters, backpack and hand blowers, and chainsaws. Ability to drive trucks, tractors and other vehicles desired. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and supervisors. Position may require some overtime and weekend work. Specific Duties: Reporting to the Assistant Director of Grounds/Custodial Services, the Groundskeeper position performs various tasks related to maintenance and improvement of the grounds. Operates push mower, string trimmer, blower, chainsaw, roller and other hand tools as required. Operates riding mower, blowers and other equipment that are a minimum of 2 horsepower. Performs general grounds cleanup; prepares and maintains flower beds; assists in formal landscaping installation and maintenance; operates light-duty truck to haul dirt and trash; makes trips to local vendors to purchase supplies and minor equipment and deliver/pick up equipment for repair. Performs general maintenance of equipment used on a daily basis and makes minor adjustments; informs supervisor when repairs are needed. Performs other related duties as required.
