COD Fashion Student
Heads to Paris
COD Fashion Design
student Anna Loosli will
spend the month of July in
Paris participating in a
fashion workshop at the
prestigious Paris American
Academy. Founded in 1965 by Richard Roy, the Paris American
Academy features a vocational approach that prepares students
for careers in fashion, fine arts and interior design. The
workshop provides an overview of the French fashion industry,
including collection development, haute couture draping and
sewing techniques, historical presentations, and textile design.
"This workshop is a great opportunity to learn and experience
new and different couture techniques of creating designs that I
can then apply to my own collections," Loosli said. Read More

Staff Services Assistant Nancy Ludeks won a
drawing for a gift basket valued at more than $100.
Nothing like a delicious free lunch in the courtyard to
welcome in spring!
More Kudos to…Motion Picture/TV Professor Jennifer
Piehl and Photography Professor Terry Vitacco who
doubled the enrollment in this spring’s “Creative Career
Boot Camp.” This new course includes a field study
component at the Arts conference at North Central
College and provided students with an opportunity to
develop branding and marketing materials to promote
their work as artists.
A Double Kudos to...Adult Admissions Representative
Angela Nackovic who received two very complimentary
notes regarding her service and style. The first is from
future student Agnes Lukasiewicz who wrote: “Thank
you for your time and help with getting my career and
education evaluated. Your attitude and personality are so
great that you helped me believe that I can achieve my
dream. As far as Project Management Professional (PMP)
certification, I was able to determine that COD is offering
less expensive non-credit hours this fall. Again thank you
so much for your time.” The second letter is from Nancy
Kendzior at the Adult Services Programming office of
Bloomingdale Public Library: “The Bloomingdale Public
Library would like to thank you for your presentation for
our library titled ‘Back to School for Adults.’ Our patrons
really enjoyed your program, and the library certainly
appreciates your support and partnership for our
community. You did a great job. Looking forward to
working with you again on future.”
More Kudos to…Paralegal Club advisor Linda Jenkins
and Paralegal Professor Sally Fairbank. This year’s
student Paralegal Club earned gold at the recent yearend Student Life Awards. The club also earned
recognition as having the best yearbook of 2014, with
student Todd Holes earning Officer of the Year.
Even More Kudos to…Associate Dean of Instructional
Technology Brett Coup was recently featured in an article
about the merits of online learning vs. the traditional

will host Animation Portfolio
Night at 6:30 p.m. on
Thursday, May 15, in the

During this free event, 15 animated short films by students will
be screened. "Each piece has been created solely by the
student, including writing the story, character development,
design, storyboarding, coloring, sound effects, and voiceovers,"
said Associate Professor Tony Venezia. "Normally, any one of
these projects would be tackled by an entire class. So it's been
a lot of work but also exciting, and it will be fun to show off what
