COD Offers New Interactive Media Degree
The new Interactive Media degree at College of DuPage
combines courses from three programs to best prepare
students for careers developing web sites, digital interfaces
and other interactive media applications. Recently
approved by the Illinois Community College Board, the
Associate in Applied Science degree requires coursework
from the Graphic Design, Motion Picture/TV and Computer
Information Systems programs. This cross-discipline
approach provides students with the skills for entry-level
employment as interface designers, user experience
designers, interaction designers and front-end developers.
Students can also transfer to a four-year school to pursue a
bachelor’s degree. “The Interactive Media degree ties
courses together in a logical way,” said John Callegari,
Professor and Coordinator of COD’s Graphic Design
program. “Interdisciplinary studies are becoming the norm,
and interactive design is both a technical pursuit and a
creative endeavor.” Read More
Culinary, Hospitality Prepares Students for Real World
The Culinary, Hospitality Management and Tourism program at
College of DuPage is providing crucial hands-on experience for
students. Culinary and Baking Program Co-Coordinator Tim
Meyers said there are many changes on the horizon for the
College’s Culinary program this spring that will provide benefits to
students on multiple levels. In addition to the revitalization of
current degree and certificate programs, the program will offer
increased and broader opportunity for hands-on experience on
the College’s campus. “We’re excited about the upcoming
changes in the program,” said Meyers. “We will give our students
the best real-world experience in both front-of-house and back-ofhouse so they can go successfully into the industry. Based on
industry trends and feedback received from students and an
advisory panel made up of industry professionals and experts, we
are adding new courses and programs, as well as updating and
revitalizing existing degree and certificate programs.” Click here
