Jan. 8, 2016 COD Interior Design Grad Decorates White House Interior Design graduate Sheri Bolton (above) says she is still pinching herself about her experience as a White house holiday decorator. The owner and lead designer of Bolton Designs and Interiors LLC in Chicago was one of nearly 100 volunteers from 35 states selected this year to help decorate the White House for the holidays. Bolton had her first meeting at the White House on Thanksgiving Day, and for the next five days helped to transform the iconic presidential residence. “We met First Lady Michelle Obama at the Volunteer Reception, and she gave a speech to us that was heartfelt and warm. She appreciated the sacrifice we all were making to be away from our families,” said the Crete resident. Read More COD Study Abroad Ranked Number One in Nation According to the Institute of International Education’s Open Doors Report, College of DuPage is ranked number one nationally among community colleges offering credit for studying abroad. “We’ve been in the top five for several years and that, in and of itself, is something to be proud of, but number one feels good and the timing is perfect,” said Maren McKellin, Manager of Field and Experiential Learning/Study Abroad. “We have such a great team of staff and faculty right now and it shows.” Read More Only the BEST in Manufacturing at COD Dozens of educators, energy managers and facility directors from across the U.S. recently visited the HVACR lab at College of DuPage for a tour of the College’s state-of-the-art HVACR training labs. During the visit, cohosted by COD, the Building Efficiency for a Sustainable Tomorrow (BEST) Center and the Building Technologies division of Siemens Industry, Inc., attendees toured the College’s HVACR lab and watched demonstrations of the lab’s cutting-edge training equipment. “COD is the only school in the U.S. that is building training equipment on such a large level,” said HVACR instructor Bob Clark (above). “We are creating a path that schools across the nation can follow.” Click here for photos from this event. Read More College of DuPage graduate Josh Longmire (above) is close to achieving his educational goals after transferring to the University of Illinois at Chicago to study computer science.
