How to cite from Short Stories for Students (SSfS) in MLA Style
When citing text from SSfS that does not list an author (for example the
Themes, Style, Historical Context sections, etc.) use the following model:
"The Pearl ." Short Stories for Students. Ed. Ira Mark Milne. Vol. 22. Detroit: Gale, 2006.
202-203. Print.
When citing content that was written specifically for SSfS (for example, the first
essay under the Criticism heading), use the following model:
Perkins, Wendy. "The Pearl." Short Stories for Students. Ed. Ira Mark Milne. Vol. 22.
Detroit: Gale, 2006. 206-207. Print.
When citing an essay that originally appeared in a journal or newspaper and is
reprinted in SSfS, use the following model:
Morris, Harry. “’The Pearl’ : Realism and Allegory.” English Journal. 52.7 (1963): 487+. Rpt.
in Short Stories for Students. Ed. Ira Mark Milne. Vol. 22. Detroit: Gale, 2006. 20815. Print.
When citing an essay that originally appeared in a book and is reprinted in SSfS,
use the following model:
Angley, Patricia. “Fleur Pillager: Feminine, Mythic, and Natural Representations in Louise
