December 7th to 11th, 2015

Monday
We did our ‘j’ page of our ‘Big and Little’ book. We
greeted classmates, said the pledge and our class promise
and did calendar. We sang our ‘Days of the Week’ song
and ‘Macarena Months’. We subitized numbers to 10 in
random arrays, read our popcorn words and did our ABC
charts’. We reviewed habits of thinkers. We learned
about genres of books. We did shared reading and read
Nana Upstairs, Nana Downstairs by Tomie dePaola. We
wrote a sentence about our kindergartner of the week
using shared writing. We learned our new popcorn word
‘we’ and did rainbow writing of it. We read our poem of
the week, ‘Gingerbread Man’. We wrote our ‘Weekend
News’. We started reading groups and stations (reading
‘sticker’ books, reading book bin books, magnetic letters
and starfall.com) during literacy workshop. We read
Gingerbread Man. We had recess. We read chapter 2 of
26 Fairmount Avenue by Tomie dePaola. We learned a
new opening math game called ‘Mystery Number’. We
played ‘Roll and Gingerbread Man’ in math.
Wednesday
We did our ‘l’ page of our ‘Big and Little’ book. We
then greeted one another, sang My Country ‘Tis of
Thee, said our class promise and did calendar.
We did ‘Action Alphabet’. We counted to 100 by
fives and tens and read our popcorn words. We
reviewed the six habits of thinkers. Our PM
kindergartner of the week brought something for
us to estimate and we wrote a sentence about him
using shared writing. We did speedwriting of our
popcorn word. The AM class read The Bubble
Factory by Tomie dePaola. The PM class had
library. We wrote all the words we could think of in
a word spree. We sequenced the lines of our
poem and read The Gingerbread Girl. The AM
class did literacy workshop. We had recess. We
figured out our mystery number and explored a
gingerbread house graph.
Tuesday
We did our ‘k’ page of our ‘Big and Little’ book. We then greeted our friends. We sang My Country ‘Tis of Thee , said our class promise and did calendar. We did a new ABC chart with digraphs (ch, sh, th). We counted to 100 by ones and read our popcorn words. W e reviewed the six habits of thinkers. The AM class visited the library. Our PM kindergartner of the week brought his poster and a science image. We wrote a sentence about him using shared writing. Then we each wrote a question about the science image. The AM class wrote about a gingerbread kid. The PM class read The Bubble Factory by Tomie dePaola. We read The Gingerbread Man Loose on the Fire Truck. We did literacy workshop. We had recess. We read in 26 Fairmount Avenue by Tomie dePaola. We did rainbow writing of numerals 6-­‐10. Thursday
We did our ‘m’ page of our ‘Big and Little’ book. We
then greeted classmates. We sang My Country ‘Tis of
Thee, said our class promise and did calendar. We
counted backwards from 20, subitized ten frames and
read our popcorn words. We reviewed the habits of
thinkers. The AM class read The Quicksand Book by
Tomie dePaola. Our (PM) kindergartner of the week
shared something for Social Studies and we wrote a
sentence about him using shared writing. Then we
each wrote a page about him on our own. We read
Library Mouse, A World to Explore that introduced us to
the non-fiction genre. We did literacy workshop
stations. We read, highlighted popcorn words in and
illustrated our poem of the week. We read The
Gingerbread Kid Goes to School. We had recess. We
read a chapter in 26 Fairmount Avenue. We played a
gingerbread man game that introduced us to addition
and subtraction.
Friday
We greeted classmates. We sang My Country ‘Tis of Thee,, said our class promise and did calendar.
We counted up from various numbers and read our popcorn words. We reviewed the six habits of
thinkers. We read Bill and Pete Go Down the Nile by Tomie dePaola.. We highlighted popcorn words in and read
‘We Go Up’. We did a floor graph of our favorite version of the ‘Gingerbread Man’. We read Snow Dude and graphed
what we would take our first bite on a gingerbread cookie (arm, leg or head). We did literacy workshop.
We had recess. We colored a gingerbread picture by numbers.
