FEBRUARY 29TH-MARCH 4TH Sunshine Smiles Writing Workshop Author’s Message and Connections Combining Creativity, Writing, and This week, the SUNSHINES were immersed in Dr. Seuss books for Read Across America Week! After reading The Sneetches, the kids wrote what they thought the author’s message was. After discussing the story, the kids also wrote about connections they made to other texts and their lives. We focused on having an introduction, materials, steps, and an ending. * We continue to review math skills from throughout the year during our number routines at the beginning of math workshop. * * After following directions on making a CAT IN THE HAT, the SUNSHINES wrote a piece on “HOW TO” draw it. * * Technology We learned about nonfiction and fiction texts and completed sorts! We will be doing so many fun activities to promote the love of reading! * We are in need of plastic sleeves for our First Grade MEMORY BOOKS.
