We also worked on the comprehension strategy “Cause and Effect.” Using this strategy helps readers make connections with why events in a story happen as well as make good predictions about what might happen next. Tell someone at home what were some of the “cause and effect” events in the story “If You Give Mouse A Cookie.” We never knew multiplying by 2 digit numbers could be so easy! In Math Workshop, we spent lots of time focusing on multiples of 10 and using the Associative Property to mentally solve double digit multiplication problems! Can you solve these problems: 20 X 6, 40 X 3 and 70 x 5? Fill in the circle with the correct symbol (Use the “greater than,” “less than” or “equal to” sign.) 30 x 4 50 X 3. In Science we examined the parts of a seed. We took a bean seed apart and identified the: seed coat, embryo and cotyledon. We also learned why each of these parts were needed for the growth of a plant. Tell someone at home where the cotyledon of a seed is located and why this is an important part of the seed!
