Wow! What a terrific start to fifth grade! Thank you for sending us such great kids. We have enjoyed getting to know each of your children the past few weeks! Please note that this will be the only hard copy newsletter we will send this year. All further newsletters will come through email and be posted on Mrs. Rowe’s homepage at: http://www.dublinschools.net/AngelaRowe.aspx
.
If you have any questions, please let us know. Have a wonderful long weekend with your families.
Mr. Dave Miller and Mrs. Angela Rowe
In reading workshop, we have been building routines around sharing with partners about books, building reading stamina (up to 30 minutes this week), and thinking about types of books we like to read. I also started some beginning of the school year reading assessments to learn more about your child as a reader.
This week in writing workshop we have had time to free write as I begin to learn about your child as a writer. We have also been building our stamina for writing (up to 25 minutes this week).
In science, we are studying the sun and the concept of scientific inquiry.
In math, we have been learning about place value, converting tenths, hundredths, and thousandths into fractions and decimals. We also discussed the importance of quality problem solving.
As the year and our routines get underway, we will begin daily word study work. This will start either late next week or the following week.
