Drexel University College of Medicine Hahnemann University Hospital Podiatric Medicine & Surgery Residency (PMSR) Reconstructive Rearfoot & Ankle (RRA) ENDOCRINOLOGY ROTATION Goals: This rotation will include direct participation and exposure to a variety of endocrine related medical pathologies. Education will include, but not be limited to, treatment/diagnosis of diabetes, hyper/hypothyroidism, gonadal disorders, adrenal function, bone and lipid metabolism and pathologies. The resident will be involved in history and physical examinations, interpretation of laboratory and diagnostics studies, and diagnosis and management of patients. Competencies: The resident will be able to demonstrate the following competencies: 1. Perform a complete medical history and physical examination 2. Order and interpret pertinent laboratory tests 3. Understand the diagnostic criteria and medical management of other common conditions including, but not limited to: hypertension, thyroid disease, cardiac disease, respiratory/pulmonary disease, cancer, hematological diseases, and renal failure 4. Understand fluid and electrolyte balance 5. Formulate and implement appropriate differential diagnosis, and treatment plans of management of patient care
