Swisslog Unveils AGVPick GEN2: Second Generation AGVPick Improves
Productivity by 40
– 60 % Eliminating Non-value Add Orderfullfillment Tasks
CHICAGO, IL - ProMat 2013 Swisslog, a global provider of integrated logistics solutions, announced that it has begun manufacturing and installed its second generation AGVPick solution incorporating a series of enhancements in response to feedback from its AGVPick clients. AGVPick is semi-automated solution for optimizing productivity of case order fulfillment at large manual DCs. AGVPick is affordable and a justifiable investment, many times providing payback in less than two years.
AGVPick compliments the order filler with automatic movement from pick location to pick location and increases pick performance typically by 40 – 60 percent by eliminating non-value added steps from each order fillers. The order filler stays in the picking zone at the pallet end of the truck and focuses on the productive element of the operation; accurately, efficiently, and safely selecting cases and building stable and dense order pallets or carts.
AGVPick GEN2 provides the ultimate in flexibility. The AGVPick vehicle is also designed to function fully as a manual truck for times where long distances between picks are more productively reached by driving at "rabbit“ speed. Swisslog’s order management software calculates the best method and will recommend, via Voice, the order filler to drive.
AGVPick GEN2 is the industry leading, seamless, built-in not bolt-on, integration of a top of the line Class III electric pallet truck with laser guidance, laser safety sensors, wireless communications, traffic management software, order management software and voice control. The AGVPick GEN2 enhancements include:
Narrower design for passing and operator familiarity in manual operation
Fast re-insert into automatic mode
– manual-to-auto and auto-to-manual
Additional non-contact obstacle avoidance sensors
Improved diagnostics
– tablet and data device enabled
Increased speeds up to 2.0 m/s (4.5mph)
…. A typically very fast walk
More status lights and audible signals for operator awareness
Available in single, double and triple pallet models
Built-in not bolt-on to the pallet truck design
Energy availability
– battery swap, opportunity charging, fuel cells
Easy integration with the host WMS ensuring strategic deployment of vehicles and pick routes
Voice or RF integration with the vehicle enables maximum pick accuracy
Swisslog’s AGVPick eliminates non-value added orderfullfilment tasks..
