Position: Sentry Insurance Endowed Chair in Computational Analytics
Department: Computing and New Media Technologies

Position Description: We are looking for a colleague interested in leveraging partnerships, inspiring
students and creating innovative curriculum. The successful candidate will help to drive analytics education
and regional economic development.
A 2016 gift of $4 million from Sentry Insurance will establish a new endowed faculty position in data
analytics and allow UW-Stevens Point to launch an innovative curriculum for undergraduate students. The
successful candidate for this position will help build and launch a new data analytics degree program.

The Computing and New Media Technologies Department at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point
invites applications for the Sentry Insurance Endowed Chair in Computational Analytics, a tenure-track
faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. Candidates should have a completed PhD by
August 29, 2016.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate their commitment to teach core courses and show professional
ability and competence in the area of Data Analytics, with additional interest and ability in Computer
Information Systems (CIS) or Web & Digital Media Development (WDMD) curricula.
The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of the fundamental aspects of Data Science and
Data Analytics – data validation, cleansing and transformation, data acquisition and storage, statistical data
analysis and data mining, and data visualization and dissemination. In addition, candidates should be
proficient with one or more of the following: databases and data warehousing, application development,
web/mobile technologies, human-computer interaction, and high-performance computing.
The candidate is expected to demonstrate professional growth, an active research agenda, and
university/professional service commensurate within a teaching-oriented department.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Ph.D. in data analytics, data science or a closely related field.
Preferred:
- Expertise in data acquisition and storage, data validation, cleansing and transformation, statistical data
analysis, and data mining, data visualization and dissemination.
- Industry or academic experience in data analytics or data science.
- Experience or interest in developing strong relationships with local businesses and other partners.
- Previous teaching experience
Department/University Description: The Department of Computing and New Media Technologies has 9
full-time tenure-track faculty members serving more than 300 majors in Computer Information Systems
and Web and Digital Media Development.

Appointment Date: Fall 2016
Terms of Employment: This is a 9-month, full-time tenure-track position, with the possibility of summer
employment. Salary range is dependent on qualifications.
