Position: Assistant or Associate Professor of Human Dimensions of Natural Resource Management

Position Description:
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UW-Stevens Point) College of Natural Resources (CNR) is
seeking a full-time (9-month), tenure track faculty member who will have a 100% teaching appointment in
the Human Dimensions of Natural Resource Management (HDNRM) Discipline. As a faculty member of
the UW-Stevens Point CNR, the successful candidate will have responsibility for teaching undergraduate
and graduate courses that focus on civic engagement and public participation in natural resource
management. The primary courses will be Natural Resources and Public Relations, Integrated Resource
Management, introductory courses, and other opportunities as the needs of the discipline and interests of
the candidate would allow.
The candidate is expected to teach 12 credits per semester and advise undergraduate students as appropriate.
The position reports directly to the Dean of the College. Opportunities exist for involvement in research,
outreach, graduate student advising, and international programs to meet University scholarship and service
requirements. Experience in and desire to work with diverse populations of learners and stakeholders is
expected. The successful candidate may be required to teach in the Summer Field Experience.

Qualifications:
Required:
-Ph.D or J.D. complete or near completion, or other appropriate doctoral degree in human dimensions of
natural resource management, environmental policy/law, natural resource communication, planning, or
related field by the date of the appointment. The doctoral degree must be earned by time of first retention
decision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
Preferred:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a land or water management-based discipline is preferred, as it will facilitate the
candidate’s ability to teach in the Summer Field Experience
- Experience with GIS
- Successful experience teaching undergraduate students
- Agency or NGO public participation experience in policy making
- Relevant experience and a demonstrated understanding on natural resource management, communication,
policy, public participation and civic engagement.
Appointment Date: August 29, 2016
Terms of Employment: This is an Assistant or Associate Professor, tenure track, full-time, academic
appointment (9 months). Salary is commensurate with education and professional experience.
