BART Project Manager is CCM #2,000
Kevin R. Sanderson, CCM, project manager at San Francisco’s Bay Area Rapid Transit System
(BART), recently became the 2,000th Certified Construction Manager recognized by the Construction
Manager Certification Institute (CMCI).
The roster of CCMs has now doubled in the last five years and grown by more than 50 percent
since 2010.
“For sure I am quite proud!” Sanderson said of his certification “As an employee of a public
agency, specifically a manager of capital construction projects, I felt it to be quite notable, and positive,
to have my knowledge and experience of construction management verified by an ANSI accredited,
respected, independent entity. The whole certification process has been both challenging and
rewarding, and I am looking forward to maintaining my new Credential!”
BART operates a 104-mile, 44-station system and currently has a portfolio of projects in the
design and construction phases, meant to help the system serve a metro area that is projected to add
some two million more residents by 2035. Specifically, Mr. Sanderson is managing one of the system’s
highest priority projects, the $400 million Hayward Maintenance Complex Project. This project will
increase the size, capabilities, and functionality of BART's largest existing maintenance facility. It will be
completed in 2018.
The Certified Construction Manager credential is accredited by the American National Standards
Institute (ANSI) under the international standard ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024, General Requirements for Bodies
Operating Certification Systems or Persons.
