April 12, 2012 Board of Governor's Vision The CMCI mission statement "CMCI shall exist to serve the public and the profession of construction management through the establishment and maintenance of criteria and procedures for certification of construction managers" sets the stage for the Board of Governor's to maintain the integrity and significance of the CCM certification. Each year the BOG is actively engaged with ANSI to maintain our certification program. Additionally the BOG accomplishes our mission through our committees. I look forward to providing updates on committee actions in future newsletters. The recertification committee is presently reviewing our recertification polices with a goal of streamlining and simplifying our recertification policies. We're hopeful to announce the new policy following the May Board meeting in Long Beach, CA. On behalf of the BOG we look forward to seeing many of you at the Owners Leadership Forum. I invite all of you meet the Governor's. We welcome your comments and feedback. CMAA Chair Award Congratulations to Doug Titzer, CCM Division Vice President of Jacobs. He has been awarded the CMAA Chair Award. As Secretary to the Board of Governors, Doug has also been instrumental in leading the CMCI Exam Committee through countless hours of the rigorous ANSI audit to maintain the CCMs valued accreditation. Doug is a true ambassador for the CCM certification and has continued supporting and promoting its importance by speaking at conferences such as the CMAA National Conference and the upcoming CII Annual Conference in July. When Does Your Certification Expire? You earned your CCM, so make sure you keep it! Take a moment to check your CCM expiration date. Go ahead and add reminders to your calendar leading up to that date. These reminders will help keep you on track to accumulate all the recertification points, too. You might want to add links to CMAA's webinars in your reminders to check for points towards your recertification. You'll receive an invoice from CMCI as your expiration date nears, but make sure your contact information is up to date! New York City Department of Environmental Protection If you haven't heard, another organization is requiring CCMs to work on their projects! Kevin Donnelly, PE, deputy commissioner of theNew York City Department of Environmental Protection, announced at the CMAA Annual Conference in November 2011 that the Department intends to require that all construction managers working on its $14 billion-plus capital construction program be CCMs. Staying Ahead of the Curve McGraw-Hill releases research study on Construction Industry Workforce Trends. CMAA & CMCI To Exhibit at Joint Engineer Training Conference & Expo CMCI and CMAA will be exhibiting the CCM credential at the 2012 Society of American Military Engineers on May 22nd-25th. The 2012 JETC Expo is set to be one of the largest ever. Each of the uniformed services will be represented and will feature networking lounges for the relaxation and networking pleasure of attendees.If you are planning on attending, be sure to wear your CCM lapel pin and stop by at the SAME Pavillion and help support your certification!
