Grading Policy First, all grades are earned in this class and you work form only this document. Do Not ask for extra credit. I do not accept late work. I am not unreasonable, but you are expected to be responsible and accountable. Below are the assignments and the tests for the semester. Assignments Explanation Points Tests Midterm & Final Two exams at 50 points each Field Trip Historical Site Visit 25 points King & Steinbeck Reading and Writing 50 points for each essay Geography Mapping Exercises 25 points Documents & Current Events Participation & Discussion 100 points Biographical Inquiry Carnegie or Chavez Bio 50 points The grading scale is based upon 400 points. There are no penalties for failing to turn in an assignment. You simply forfeit the points. I record your points, but your grade is only tabulated at the end of the semester. Please refer to the grading scale below to determine your grade. All work is due per the assignment deadlines as noted. See me in advance of any problems and we shall discuss any problems with assignments; otherwise no late work acceptable. Grade A Meaning Superlative Work and Effort Points 350 and above B Above average work and effort 310-349 C Satisfactory 275-309 D Below Average 230-274 F Failure Below 230 Bonus & Substitution Assignments Movie Critique and Oral History must be cleared with me before commencing with the work. Also, you may elect to substitute Chavez biography for Carnegie and/or substitute Fate of the Earth for In Dubious Battle. Again, you will need to sit down and talk with me about your plans, before you commence with the project of your choice. Do not proceed, if you decide to substitute, without prior approval.
