Pump design parameters were optimized to maximize efficiency of pump as well as meet packaging requirements. Mechanical Design Lead - Senior Project: Worked with a team of three other students to design and manufacture a three-axis CNC plasma cutting system. Responsible for design of virtually all mechanical components of the machine, such as the linear guide rails, rack and pinion drive system, and gantry structure. All parts were modeled in SolidWorks and a commercial FEA package was utilized to produce optimal geometries that reduce cost and weight. Worked with controls engineer on drive system development to ensure final specifications of machine will be met. Project won Frank Jarrett Design Award for most outstanding student project in machine design. For more information please see project website: TeamCNC.wordpress.com Formula SAE Chassis Fixture Design: Worked with another team member to design a fixture to locate every tube and suspension pickup point of the chassis during manufacturing. The fixture was composed of laser cut 11 gauge steel plates with an interlocking design to provide efficient, accurate, and cost effective solution. EXPERIENCE Zee.Aero Mountain View, CA November 2013 – Present Mechanical Engineer Working on power and propulsion team to design and test weight optimized electric propulsion systems.
