Chabot College February 1996 Course Outline for Theater Arts 5 CHILDREN'S THEATRE Catalog Description: 5 - Children's Theatre May be repeated 3 times 1-3 units Introduction to the techniques of formal children's theater. Creation and performance of a theatrical production designed for children. Casting subject to audition. 1-3 hours. Expected Outcomes for Students: Upon completion of the course, the student should: 1. have learned skills in performing and in working with others to create a theatrical event for children; 2. have gained familiarity with the appropriate literature to be used in children's theatre concerning directing, acting, backstage work, theatre managing and community relations; 3. have learned those special techniques of acting and performing that are inherent to the style(s) used in children's theatre; 4. have experienced creativity, personal growth, and sharing.
