ENGLISH GRAMMAR: A RAPID REVIEW FOR ESL
Catalog Description:
ESL 112 - English Grammar: A Rapid Review for ESL
3 units
Intermediate-level overview of the structures of English grammar. Important grammatical forms
including verb tenses, articles, modal auxiliaries, the passive voice, reported speech, adjective
clauses, gerunds, infinitives, and conditional sentences. Strongly Recommended: Eligibility for 110C.
3 hours.

Expected Outcomes for Students:
Upon completion of the course the student should be able to:

Course Content:
1. The forms and meanings of the following aspects of English grammar: verb tenses, articles, modal auxiliaries,
the passive voice, reported speech, adjective clauses, gerunds, infinitives, and conditional sentences
2. Using these to express specific meaning accurately and correctly in short directed writing assignments
3. Editing for correct use of the grammar studied
