Chabot College Fall 2004 Replaced Fall 2010 Course Outline for Computer Application Systems 72B ELEMENTARY COMPUTER KEYBOARDING II Catalog Description: 72B – Elementary Computer Keyboarding II (May be repeated 1 time.) 1 unit Self-paced computer keyboard skill development for improving keyboarding accuracy and speed. Introduction word processing techniques will also be taught., including introduction to basic word processing techniques. Strongly recommended: Computer Application Systems 72A. 3 hours laboratory. [Typical contact hours: 52.5 Prerequisite Skills: None. Expected Outcomes for Students: Upon completion of the course the student should be able to: 1. demonstrate correct posture while keyboarding; 2. keyboard alpha characters and numbers at a speed of at least 30 words per minute on a 3-minute timing; 3. demonstrate basic word processing editing techniques including proofreading; 4. keyboard business documents such as letters, reports, and memos using proper formatting techniques.
