Spectroscopic Performance I Smith Sahnow Done ` Analysis Analysis Analysis 79% 4 FUV Focus Status • Modeling is underway to simulate the upcoming focus run using STIS spectrum and raytraced PSFs. • Two new targets (Sk-155, WD2218+706) with STIS spectra chosen to check resolution in program 11489 (FUV External Spectroscopic Performance I) – Updated visits will be submitted soon. – Plan is to schedule them after the focus adjustment, early in SMS 243. 5 NUV Sensitivity (11479) Preliminary Results • Data for the first three visits, using GRW+70D5824 and GD71 have allowed us to derive (preliminary) independent sensitivity curves for each grating and stripe. – Similar to prelaunch predictions • G230L second order contribution still being quantified (but was expected) 6 Embargoed figure - Do not distribute NUV Sensitivity (11479) Preliminary Results 7 FUV Lower HVNom • New HVNom values loaded last week. • HV will be cycled early in SMS 236 (HVLow→OPERATE→HVLow) so that the HVMax values are loaded to the DCE. • DCE Memory Dump will be done at the same time to look for evidence of HV Transients. 8 Target Acquisitions • Initial looks show that dispersed light and imaging target acquisitions for both channels have been performing well. • Two exposures of 1147205 (NUV Dispersed Light Acquisitions) were lost last weekend due to missing lock. – Preliminary analysis indicates we will not have to repeat them. 9 Upcoming COS SMOV Timeline • NUV Spectroscopic Sensitivity – 11479 04 233:15:41 – 233:22:43 • FUV Spectroscopic Sensitivity – 11492 11 234:04:29 – 234:13:19 • FUV Target Acquisition Algorithm Verification – 11486 04 234:14:18 – 234:17:31 10
