SMOV Status & Planning Meeting Notes 7/24/09 - Summary: The anomalous absence of a POSTARG slew inside of a WFC3 observation has been explained. COS FUV alignment and FUV/NUV calibrations are ongoing. The Tiger Team has recommended the resumption of STIS MAMA Operations via next week’s SMS. - Observatory Status o o - PCS TCS STScI analysts discovered that an SMS T4 slew (POSTARG) did not execute as scheduled at 196/12:35. Anomaly is now understood Due to the short occultation windows, the T4 (POSTARG slew) commanding collided with the FGS Maintenance Slew commanding. Need to prevent command collisions between T4 and Maint slew o For the time being, this will be done via manual checking The attached chart package Day 196 T4 Anomaly provides details. Nominal A STIS MEB1 temperature limit change has been submitted. o Safing Yesterday’s solar eclipse was handled nominally by HST o Other subsystems Nominal SI Status o WFC3 Science UVIS plate scale images (from 11444 show the pattern of pointings is corrupted o This is the problem of the missing POSTARG See PCS report, above Other WFC3 calibrations are ongoing For details, see the attached WFC3_SMOV_report20090724 o COS Science. TKeyes COS FUV optical alignment analysis has been proceeding for the past several days. It appears we will have an update for G140L NUV quicklook sensitivity indicates sensitivities are equal or slightly above the ground (and ETC) values for most gratings, and slightly below ground for G285M. o o FGS/OTA Nominal o ACS o STIS ACS SMOV is complete. Science. CProffitt The Tiger Team recommends the resumption of STIS MAMA Operations via SMS No special actions required (protections are adequate) Resumption of STIS MAMA operations in SMS208 (next week) For more details on status and plans, see the attached STIS_SMOV_status_24jul2009 NICMOS/NCS Forward Plan NCS restart o Project briefing on Mon. July 27 o Restart scheduled for Tues., July 28 P&S Status o o - ERO 11502 has experience a guidestar failure Subsequent visits in this SMS use the same guidestars ERO team to evaluate the plan forward o o - ERO NUV wavecal analysis indicates that stripe B wavelength ranges are within encoder tolerance of nominal values o Ranges for stripes A/C differ in some cases o Evaluation will be made today to determine if we will adjust any encoder positions prior to observations of next Tuesday. Visit 50 of program 11474 (external wavecal quicklook) failed GS Acq on Wed and no science was obtained; visit will be repeated as visit 70 on 215 or 222 SMS; no change to SMOV timeline is required More details in the attached COS_SMOV_update_24July2009 Calendar/SMS builds SMS208 PASS processing is in work SMS215 “Hunting and gathering” mode Replans SMS208 Contains resumption of STIS MAMA operations Operations o o FOT ERO 11502 has experience a guidestar failure PACOR Nominal o OPUS (TEllis No new OPUS issues to report. Tonight data for COS proposal 11469 will be fast-tracked, Over the weekend data will be fast-tracked for COS proposal 11484. Ops requests will be submitted to get offsets loaded for the "use offset" genslews scheduled to execute over the next few days for these proposals. OPUS quick-fix 2009.2g was installed Thursday morning PRs 62851 and 63053. In the near future we also plan to install new versions of CALNICA (PR 63077) and MultiDrizzle (PR 63153). o Archive Nominal
