SMOV Status & Planning Meeting Notes 7/10/09 - - Summary: STIS suspended (reference HSTAR 11922) at 190/06:19 UTC during the procedure to recover to Operate and dump the MIE memory. An intercept SMS, removing all STIS commanding for the remainder of the 187 SMS, was produced and uplinked last night. NOTE: After the meeting, STIS was recovered to Operate, but then suspended on the same MIE dump test as yesterday (HSTAR 11927). SMS194 was reworked to remove all STIS activities from the week. An ARB will likely be convened next week. - After analyis, it is expected that WFC3 IR alignment will be confirmed. The need for any further adjustment to the UVIS alignment mechanism, which is showing some non-linearity, is still under discussion (but UVIS SMOV can proceed.). COS aperture mechanism commanding used in the NUV alignment activity has been corrected and the visits reinserted into the near-term schedule. The intercept SMS needed to accommodate both the need for a realtime STIS recovery and the opportunity to repeat the COS visits with updated aperture mechanism commandinghas been generated and uplinked. ACS internals are proceeding nominally. - Plans are proceeding to restart the NICMOS Cooling System next week. TKeyes NUV Optical Alignment (COS09, 11469) o Visit 7 - Anomalous aperture mechanism behavior (reported yesterday) Cause of the anomalous behavior was traced to exposure routines that command the aperture mech to home, thereby undoing the relative moves commanded just prior to the start of the exposure routine. Exposure routines have been modified to avoid the home commands Visits have been inserted into the 187 Intercept SMS o For more details on the upcoming COS NUV alignment visits see the attached COS_SMOV_update_10July2009. o FGS/OTA Nominal o ACS Engineering Status o STIS Science.
